The vast majority of us happen to be living a forward flexion fixated lifestyle. Fancy talk for, we sit on our ass too much! The impact on the human structure is devastating and it is our right to understand the implications of our inaction before it’s too late. The chair sitting position chronically shortens our hamstrings, elongates the glutes (butt) and begins shutting down the activation of this musculature. If its not already blatantly obvious why this is completely not ok, I’ll explain.
The hip joint is the strongest lever in our body. It permits the ability to run, jump, pick up heavy loads and dance to the wee hours of the eve.
You’ll never see a descent sprinter that is not activating his glutes well. This is because we can’t propel ourselves forward into the world with out a strong back-side. Think of the back and butt like the “back-end” of a business; allowing the store front to stay operational. If we forget to nurture and support the back-end, the whole system will suffer greatly.
There is no better time than now to reverse the disastrous effects of chairs. Let’s take some pride in our butts!

I’m a old friend of your father, from back in our Smith Barney days. We started about the same time and ended near the same time. He is very proud of you and what your now doing in OR.
I’m working on improving my lower back, hamstrings etc. thru yoga and biking. It’s helped a lot. Without the stretching and core exercises I do, I would not feel as good as I do now.
Wishing you continued success in your work as a therapist and healer.
Thanks for tuning in! Let me know if the videos are helpful to you and if I can be of any service to help your back along.
